Kriesel has finished M81648221, the final exponent to be tested is M81821569, which will be done by Greg
ooh apparently we're at the last two un-double-checked exponents below M82589933, and they'll be done in a few days, so we'll officially know if M82589933 is the 51st Mersenne prime or if there's secretly another one just below it soon
PkmnQ is cool
also, a few weeks ago i sent you a message on wasteof, to your secret society account. could you please log in to reply? i hope you remember the username (I'd rather not say it here because it's a secret society account)
thank you, yes, it was that one
i don't know if i got what you meant by top comment but i think i deleted it(?)
Yes, it is kind of obvious. (Cue that one youtube comment with the girls in the forest riddle). However the secret society isn't coming back anytime soon, but feel free to make your own
(replying to your reply on wasteof) i was prepared for that, which is exactly why i unfollowed all of them
anyways i'd appreciate if you could now delete the top comment since i'm going to repurpose the account.
I might change the account's username later on because right now I think it's way too obvious (Or I might just make a new one)
so what does that mean in relation to M82589933 or the one below it being prime?
Well we know it's most likely the 51st Mersenne prime, but there's still a chance it's the 52nd if it turns out that M81821569 was prime all along. All the rest of the exponents below M82589933 have been double-checked, so with the exception of a really unlikely circumstance where a double-check happened to return the exact same wrong result as the first-time check, those are the only two possibilities.
