i fear most tiktok users are more uneducated than i thought.

i saw a video about the cloudflare outage. a lot of people in the comments were making cloudflare seem like a big evil monopoly without even knowing what cloudflare actually does other than "controls 20% of the internet!!!"

cloudflare has to be one of the least evil companies

ts happened on bluesky as well and i lowkey fell for it

TikTok comments tend to grasp at straws or use excessive insults.

Also, if Cloudflare never went up again, a new reverse proxy could be used, or the proxy could be turned off. However, they still engage in anti-competitive practices with their pricing model.

Some services offer non-profitable pricing to attract a large user-base, then buy out the competition or implement vendor lock-in. Microsoft used this strategy to kill Netscape a few decades ago.
